Climate Change Explorer - vox pop nature - Semanal 6

This was previously abandoned footage for an schools arts project on climate change. It was conceived and filmed last year during the media's big debate on the natural verses human causes of climate change. This debate still rages in schools as climate change enters the national curriculum and different teachers have different views - The Climate Change Explorer Project put me at the center of this debate and I thought that the only way forward was to equip the kids with the ability to ask questions for themselves - harder than you think, because it actually requires someone to listen and the kids to be heard. Thats why I made Plasticine Opinions. http://blip.tv/file/323915/ Anyway I wasn't sure if this video worked because I was trying to understand that if nature has no voice then how do we listen to it?

Morecambe - Canon HG10 - Semanal 5

Adam has written below about our experience of the HG10 camera this month. I have to say it won me over for ease of use and general gorgeousness of shot quality - even I could use it one handed whilst jiggling baby - but didn't have much chance to, to be honest. However, I did live with the camera present every moment just about - which, as Adam says below, caused a few annoyed comments from me when tired!

Anyway - this little film captures the joy of the last week when, with a surprise week of free time in Adam's full diary, we got to enjoy time as a family in this glorious and unusual Spring weather. This film is of an outing to Morecambe Bay. The three of us went last week after Django had to go to the Maxillo Facial Unit to have his tongue tie 'released' - a very upsetting affair for me as we had to leave him to the surgeon. But in the end, he is happier for it and able to eat more. Which is how this little film ends - me feeding him, sitting in the fading sun of Morecambe Bay...blissfool.

When Django is older he will wonder why it was only the first month of his is life was recorded with such beautiful image quality...

now - if someone somewhere has a car they would like us to try out as a family...do send it along!

Here is what Adam has to say...bit more technical...

Our months trial of the HG10 is finally up and I have hardly posted a fraction of the footage we have ... The Semanal Project thankfully gives me the perfect excuse to try and put the footage together ... So with my son sleeping in one arm and using a pen and tablet to edit iMovie08 in the other I have put together a little walk about we had along Morecambe beach.

The great thing we liked about the HG10 - especially for what I do - is its super fast focus and zoom- it is great for capturing that visual moment - Vik did tell me off because I have been glued to the view finder ... whispering "nice" and "Yes" sad and I can imagine annoying. Still we got some excellent shots that I will be sharing with you in the next few weeks (yes the hard drive is packed) Which reminds me if you do get this camera .. and I am saving for one right now ... get a 1TB external firewire drive too ... you will need it.

Music Links let me down!

Twitter, originally uploaded by Adam Clarke.

Andy from Music Links phoned me and came clean that with five days to go they wont need me to film their event - Quote Project. I sensed something wrong last week as the communication dried up and no one knew for sure what was going on ... better off out of there .. I think so.

Django

Thanks to Holly at Canon Camera Buzz we get to play with a Canon HG10 for a month. The one great thing about a HDD camera is there are no tapes to lose and this camera can cope with low light. I am also enjoying iMovie 08, I am sure much to everyone's surprise, but it is fast and I can just about edit the whole thing with one hand while bouncing our new baby son in my other arm. I am also trying to keep up with Semanal weekly vlogs! I am behind as this is number 2. Ah well Django makes it all work while. I am just about to get out in the snow. Later Folks Adam, Vik and Django

A very Jungle Book Christmas Baby

Yes It looks like Vik will give birth to a human baby any day now. I am checking the sky's for a stork hoping that this is really how it happens and the birth pool is just a place to keep the storks favorite food safe - like frogs and insects and apparently small mammals. But I know that the scans have shown a very human mammal wriggling inside Vik tum and the pronounce bump was hard to miss.

Have a Happy Christmas everyone and see you on the other side of the new year.

Fungus

Vik and I walked around our garden today in the short hours that I wasn't working. All I can say is that fungus was found, amazing colourful weird alien fungus. A great day.

Horse

On the way to the train station I walk passed a field with this amazing horse in it. Early morning light streaming accros the Cumbrian hills nearly blinded me, a nice moment of reflection as I stood still becoming a human tripod letting the image pass in front of me and the camera.

Brief Encounters with my camera

For those of you wondering what I am doing at the moment below is a short outline of a up and coming project called 'Points of Reference' apart from that I am working madly on various projects with young people all around the (Cumbrian) county. I will update shortly with news as soon as my new Laptop arrives :-).

Please join the flickr group! and add your images.

POINTS OF REFERENCE

An onboard and online collective photography workshop. Help create a series of black and white mosaic portraits of passengers using an image bank of landscape photography all taken from the windows of trains and at stations. The artist will be travelling around the Bay throughout the festival engaging and enlisting members of the public to participate in the project. Don’t forget to take your camera or cameraphone on your next walk or train journey and get snapping!

Find out how you can contribute your pictures of the coast and countryside and see the results of his activities at www.flickr.com/groups/points-of-reference
